Works/Oeuvres > Où vont les mots perdus? / Where Do Lost Words Go?

This site specific installation took shape on three different sites in the Portneuf region, between Deschambault and Saint-Raymond, in the summer of 2015. It refers to three trades, formerly practiced in this region: linen production, coal production and timber floating. The disappearance of these know-how entails that of a vocabulary of their own. Three obsolete words reproduced on a large scale, rouir, rances and bôme, blend into the landscape as monuments to the memory of a lost language. The letters are blured, either physically by the use of reflective surfaces or interference patterns, or metaphorically by the use of a material that erodes over time. Testimonies by Noëlla Berrouard, Jean-Paul Bherer and Nazaire Cauchon are at the genisis of this project.
